Beginning of Summer Update

So, I suppose its time to give a little update on how the kids have been doing.  Owen has had a big month.  He turned three, stopped sucking his thumb and became potty trained all within the month of May.  Mommy and Daddy are really proud of his potty training.  He went from all diapers and rarely sitting on the potty, to no diapers and no pull-ups in two days.  We did have a few accidents, as you would expect, but honestly he did great.  He's especially good at waking up in the morning and using the potty by himself!  He stopped sucking his thumb in a peculiar way, but hey, we're happy.  He got a paper cut on his thumb on this birthday and it hurt too much to put it in his mouth.  After that,  he realized that he could go to sleep without his thumb and he just stopped.  I also think it helped that Dr. Ta Tai (Grandpa Adams) has been telling him to stop sucking his thumb so he wouldn't have "Mater" teeth.

Here is Owen enjoying his second S'MORE of the summer (didn't get a photo of #1)

I get the most questions about Sophie.  Sophie is the cutest LITTLE 17 month old you've every seen (ok, I'm a little biased).  She hit 17 pounds for the first time two weeks ago and is about the size of a 8 month old baby. (She is still wearing 6-9 month clothes) but she has the gross and fine motor skills of an 18 month old.  Its really quite funny watching her walk around in public, if only I got a penny every time anyone asked me how old she is....  She is showing delays with her speech, probably because she had constant fluid or infection in her ears until she was 15 months old.  We are in the process of getting her in to Early On who will hopefully hook us up with a speech therapist.  We did meet with the endocrinologist last week and his "gut feeling" is that she is just fine, no underlying conditions or disorders.  He thinks the inhaled steroid she is on because of her asthma is messing up her hormone production, thus stunting her growth.  He also "blamed" it on me (for being small and also a "late bloomer").  Thanks for all the well wishes I've received over email and in person in regards to Sophie, we really do appreciate it:)

Here's Sophie eating her very first S'MORE!

They were especially cuddly yesterday and actually posed for mommy's camera:)

Owen was excited to welcome our first cousin visitors of the summer.  Simon and Elliott came to visit us while their new baby brother settled in at home.  We had two movie nights which of course they loved.  Here they are watching the Lion King.

Grandma Yvonne brought the GR Plum boys up to play and we loved having her around.  Unfortunately while she was here her fingers got slammed in the door on a windy day and the abrasions have since turned into a bad infection.  Please pray for her as she is in the hospital fighting this infection.

This picture is especially cute because I did not pose them.

Dean is recovering from his Patella Repair very well.  He had surgery on May 10th and has had to keep his leg straight since then.  He has, however, been able to put weight on it and has ditched the crutches all together (I'm not sure how the doctor will feel about that).  Hopefully PT will start next week for him.

I have been busy, but Dean has been doing more and more each day to help me out.  He even took care of the kids most of the weekend so I could have my college roomates up for the weekend.  We had a great time!  From left to right my good friends Loreen, Carrie and Holly

Something that we have been having fun with around the house are our bird nests.  We had three nests that we know of: two Robins Nests and a third smaller nest of an unknown species.  We had four baby robins in one nest and we followed them from Memorial Day weekend until just a couple of days ago- when we found the nest empty. Here is a shot of the birds a couple of days after they hatched:

Here they are about a week before they flew away:

The other nest had four eggs, but only two hatched.  Here is the first born on they day he hatched:

Here is the other smaller nest with four itty bitty babies in it:
