Owen Turns 3!

On May 5th at about 7:15 in the morning Owen turned 3 years old.  He really did grow up the last couple of weeks.  He has stopped sucking his thumb and has been doing really well with potty training after only a day and a half.  We have completely gotten rid of diapers and I have yet to change a wet bed after two nights- he's doing so great!

So back to the birthday, Owen had three different celebrations.  The first took place down in Grand Rapids after a family wedding.  Owen got to celebrate with most of his Plum cousins at a Bounce Arena. His cousin Emily turned 4 on May 4th, so it was fun to have a party in honor of both of them.   The cake was cute, an underwater theme with both Nemo (Owen's Favorite) and The Little Mermaid (Emily's Favorite)

Owen loves all his cousins, but lately he has really had a fun time with Simon, calling him his best friend.  Ironically they wore the same shirt that day:)

We missed Ally and Drew who stayed back in TC, but the rest of the gang had a great time!

The Second celebration took place on his actual birthday, Cinco de Mayo.  After swimming class we hopped in the big red van and headed to a local burger joint, Slabtown Burgers, for one of Owen's favorite meals.  He was disappointed they didn't have chocolate milk, but soon discovered that a chocolate shake is even better!  After we got home Grandma Gail treated him to a homemade cake that he got to decorate himself and he got to open his gifts from us.  All of his presents were related to Lightning McQueen and the movie Cars, and he was in heaven.  The biggest gift he received was his new Big Wheel, a Lightning McQueen Big Wheel.  He loves it and has figured out that it is especially fun to ride it down the driveway.

Here's Owen getting to drive the Big Red Van down the driveway.  We have the van all set with car seats so when mom and dad want to join us somewhere we don't have to take two cars, its kind of nice!

Owen checking out his new ride, and Sophie getting interested as well....

Owen's homemade "wacky cake", fit with "Emily's Pink Frosting" and 20 year old football figurines from previous Plum Family celebrations.

The last celebration took place on the 6th and we invited local Family and Friends.  We probably had over 50 people arrive, with nearly 25 kids.  Can you believe I didn't get a chance to take many pictures? Here are the few that I have...

If some of you aren't familiar with Lightning McQueen, here he is.  The cake was an astonishingly wonderful model of the real deal.  Dean's current client makes cakes and she is really good at it!

This is Owen blowing out his candles.  It is especially funny because he really thought he did it... but from this picture you can see that Grace Jobroun actually did.  Owen still hasn't figured out how to blow out candles.

Here is cute little Sophie, showing off the party favors.
