Dean and I just returned from a refreshing weekend with friends (and without the kids) in Sanibel Island, Florida. Although its very hard leaving the kids behind, its always good to have some extended time as a couple, and also with some great friends we don't see all too often. Some dear friends (that we do get to see pretty often) stayed home and took GREAT care of our babies. When we called home, the kids were content to play with the new toys they bought them, the new movies they were watching or playing at the water park they took them to. Uncle Mitch and Aunt Rebecca went above and beyond to make our babies happy, all while dealing with runny noses, bad coughs and Sophie's asthma. To say the least, we feel very fortunate to have such AMAZING friends.
Our weekend on Sanibel was perfect. The weather was 80 degrees and sunny everyday, with a light breeze that prohibited us from realizing that we were getting sunburned. We started our days with a run or walk on the beach and a nice breakfast then headed back to the beach to read, float on the rafts and maybe take a nap. We even managed to fit in a game or two of shuffleboard. Most of us enjoyed our first dinner out, except for me... I somehow managed to contract some food poisening and was awake all night dealing with the consequences- not fun. Luckily I bounced back the following day and was able to feel pretty normal by mid day. Our nights were consumed with playing FARKLE, a really addicting dice game. We even brought it to the beach and played on our mobile Farkle table- our Sanibel Frisbee.
