Last week on one of the 80 degree days our friend Ben sent out an email for anybody interested to meet at Clinch Park Marina and join him for a boat ride. Enough people were interested that we ended up "summerizing" our boat real quick so we had two boats for all 18 of us. It was a warm day, but a windy day, making West Bay pretty choppy. The original plans were to go to Apache Trout grill, but we weren't really thinking, because obviously they didn't have their docks in the water in early April. We hung out at the empty Yacht Club and debated on what to do for dinner.
We ended up taking a chance and endured the rough ride all the way out to the Boathouse. This was not a unanimous decision, but those unsure of the idea were troopers. This picture was taken on the boat ride out to Bowers Harbor, it doesn't look to rough.....
Did I mention that it was rough? Look at the Whaler catching some air! If you want to laugh even harder, click on the image and zoom in to see all of the boys expressions.
The girls stayed "safe" in our boat, but it still was a pretty interesting ride. Deano did do a great job driving, and a fantastic job dealing with all those women!
We made it to the Boathouse and had a wonderful meal....
but honestly the boat ride back to town was on all of our minds.
At about 10:30 at night we headed out to the docks to see how awful our boat ride into to town would be and the bay to be absolute glass. Normally, this is what you would expect, but the weather channel had warned of high winds all night so we were all shocked that the wind had died down.
The ride home was magical and we all kept saying how great of a night this was. We got back to Clinch and didn't want to go in, so we just floated for another hour, enjoying the Traverse City Lights reflecting in the mirror that was West Grand Traverse Bay.
WHAT A GREAT NIGHT!!!
