A Weekend in San Antonio, TX

We just returned from a weekend away with some great high school/ college friends.  We met up in San Antonio, TX.  Upon our arrival we learned that most of the things we were hoping to do, we couldn't.  Sea World and Six Flags were closed, The Spurs weren't in town and the weather wasn't very warm.  Lucky for us, it didn't matter.  When you get to hang out with friends you don't get to see very often, just being together is the best part.  We still managed to enjoy some great food (way too much of it) and squeezed in two days of sunbathing.
For those who aren't aware, San Antonio is a really cool city built on a river.  They built a whole little village directly on the river, with walkways and restaurants all the way around.  We stayed at the Westin, which is right on the river, allowing us to walk everywhere we needed to.  The first picture and the one below are taken right on the Riverwalk, in one of the busiest most famous restaurant sections.

Whenever you see a postcard of the Riverwalk , it almost always is taken around this area- with the multi-colored umbrellas

We learned something new while we were there.  The Alamo is NOT in the middle of the desert, its actually a block from the Riverwalk in the heart of downtown San Antonio.

There are countless bridges crossing the river, allowing pedestrians easy access to both sides of the river.  This particular bridge has been in several movies...

Although the weather never got above 65 degrees, we had access to a rooftop pool that was wonderfully designed.  Not only was it on the roof, but it had glass walls, which acted like a heat trap.  It felt like it was 80 degrees out on Sunday.  We took full advantage and had a couple of lazy days sunbathing by the pool (in between meals).

Here are the guys hanging out in the hot tub on the roof...

Obviously our cute little kiddos aren't in any of these pictures. We did leave them at home during our trip away.  Special Thanks go out to Dean's Dad and Cristina (Ma Mai and Ta Tai) as well as our friends Katie and Brian Hall for loving our kids while we were gone.  We feel so lucky to have such amazing family and friends.
