"Gettin 'er Done" at Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas

Ladies and Gentlecars... oh, sorry.  I find myself talking like Mater (from the movie "Cars") a lot lately- it seems like that's all we talk about.  Owen is obsessed with that movie.  Tonight we were teasing him that he looks like Mater, because of their similar teeth.  He thought that was pretty cool, even smiling of the camera when I asked him to show me his Mater teeth...

Anyways, we are on vacation in the Bahama's and are having an amazing time.  It's already Wednesday night and I have yet to blog, so this post will be a long one, so "Let's Get 'er Done"... oh, sorry, that's Mater talking again, he he.

We arrived at Atlantis last Saturday. We've had beautiful weather.  Upper 70's, a few clouds to give you a break from the sun every once in a while, and not a lot of wind... absolutely beautiful!

We are staying in some Condo's that are across the harbor from Atlantis.  It is a nice 15 minute walk to actually get to the Resort.  On this walk you stroll by 180 foot yahts that are absolutely stunning.  They make the boats docked at Clinch Park Marina look like dinghy's. This is a photo of us taken right outside our Condo, looking across the Marina.  This is Atlantis' "back yard"

This is the same view at night from out patio

The pink building in this picture is Atlantis.  There are a lot of cool things about Atlantis, but the kids are really enjoying a few things in particular.  On our way to all the pools, we walk through a series of  aquarium tunnels.  Both Owen and Sophie are mezmorized by the fish...

This is a shot of us at the Shark Tank.  In the shark tank are tunnels for two of the many water slides at the resort.

Today we got to see them feed the Giant Sting Rays.  The Diver held up the fish right to the glass and the Sting ray slithers up the side to eat it.  To give you an idea of just how big these things are, we put Sophie up in the window (we tried to get Owen to do it, but he was scared... I can't imagine why...)

In addition to enjoying the sea life, the kids (Owen especially) have been loving the pools.  Owen discovered some slides that he loves and we've been spending hours at this particular pool.
Its really fun because he'll go down the slide by himself and swim to us at the bottom

Sophie has been loving the water as well.  She likes to sit in her floaty toy and walk around in the shallow part.  I have yet to capture this with the still camera, but I have it on video- it's hilarious.  I do plan to create an iMovie of this trip, which I'll post next week if I get time.  She also likes posing for Kid's Illustrated- The Swimsuit Issue...

Sophie has had a few devolopments lately.  Today, Grandma and Grandpa got Sophie to stand independently and take a few steps.  Again, this was better captured on video, but you'll get the idea from these photos.

Her second development (which I don't have a picture for, sorry) is that she now has a tooth!  A little late, but that is ok.  From the look of it, it appears she may have similar teeth as her big brother.  We may have to start calling her Mater in a few weeks, he he.

Unfortunately, her latest is that she is sick, again.  Over New Years we battled extremely high fevers and ear infections for several days.  She recovered from that, but since we've been here she has been throwing up and having diarrhea.  We thought it might be the pool water she probably swallowed, but it has persisted and we are starting to think maybe she has a bug.  She's still her happy little self most of the time, she just hasn't been the piggy she normally is at meal time.

Today as we were wandering through the endless maze of pathways through this resort, we happened upon a little pool with floating toys.  Even though we had been swimming all morning, Owen had to jump in and play for a minute, he even smiled for mommy's camera (something he doesn't do much anymore)

Here's a shot of the whole family.  You can see the resort behind us...

Stay tuned for more updates and eventually a movie of the trip.
