Whistler, British Columbia

We traveled to Whistler, B.C. with Jason, Rachel and Bea. We met them in Minneapolis and were able to fly in to Vancouver together... what fun.

We switched on and off between which couple went skiing and which stayed back and watched the "twins". We were asked every time we went out with them if they were twins.

On our first shift we took them to the pool. They had a great time playing on the steps together.

No, honestly... they did have a good time.

Mealtime was always fun. Bea was teaching Owen how to eat with his fingers. He definitely does not have the same pincher finger technique... he's more into the fist technique.

Jason and Rachel bought Owen his very own sippy cup... and there is no mistaking who's it is...
The most exciting part was that he actually took sips from it, something I haven't been very successful at back home.

This picture is funny because they were playing literally seconds before this and when I turned around with lunch ready, they were both standing by their chairs ready to eat.

This is one of our evenings out. We went to the Whistler Brewery and had a great meal. We all ordered burgers, fries and macaroni and cheese. The babies ate half of our meals, they loved it! It was also a wonderful meal because they were preoccupied with watching the train go by. You can see they are still looking at the train in this picture.

We walked after dinner, and this is a shot of all of us in the middle of Whistler Village.

The kids enjoyed the walks too.

Rachel had a great idea. She thought it would be fun for all of us to get Olympic hats! Here are some shots...

We took a day off from skiing to rest our legs. In the morning we took the kids swimming together.

After lunch we hopped in the van to go explore some of the Olympic Venues that had already been completed for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. We found the Nordic Venue and ended up watching a Biathalon race... too cool.

You may be wondering where the babies are... they were sleeping in the car

Ski Jumping will also take place at the Nordic Venue, here are the jumps that will be used for the Olympics

The Mascot/ Trademark for the 2010 Games is this stone guy. We had some fun with him...

This was in front of the Olympic Headquarters in Whistler Village

Yes, we did go skiing while we were there, here are some pictures...

I got to ride in a gondola for the first time, it was great!

We spent most of our time skiing the bowls, or the areas that are mostly not groomed. We did catch some pretty fun powder from time to time. Here is Dean at the peak of one of these bowls. The "Black Tusk" is in the background which is one of the most interesting peaks because everything around it is eroded away and all that is left is the black volcanic rock that was the last to erupt from that volcano.

Here's a picture of Deano in the middle of going down one of those bowls. This was actually a pretty narrow passage and although it looks groomed, it really wasn't.

Going up the chair lift into the clouds...

Skiing down to the village after a long day...

Our last night there we went to the Fire and Ice show. It was an hour of ski and snowboard jumping through fire...

If you look closely you will see the skier in the air near the fire.

Owen was fascinated by the fire... much like his daddy.
